✅ Description:
Kalcoral-DX is indicated for the treatment and prevention of:
- Osteoporosis
- Osteomalacia
- Tetany
- Hypoparathyroidism
- Bone development disorders (osteogenesis disorders)
It also serves as a calcium supplement in:
- Childhood calcium deficiency
- Rickets
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Elderly patients
- Chronic renal failure (as a phosphate binder)
- Pancreatitis

✔️ Dosage & Administration
1 tablet once or twice daily with food for better absorption.
✔️ Side Effects:
Possible GI irritation or constipation
Rare cases of hypercalcemia (more likely with renal failure or high doses)
Others: nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dry mouth, allergic reactions, irregular heartbeat, skin rash (from vitamin D)
✔️ Drug Interactions:
- Thiazide diuretics may increase calcium levels—monitor serum calcium.
- Corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption—dose adjustment may be required.
- Absorption may be impaired by cholestyramine, paraffin oil, tetracyclines, oxalic acid (spinach/rhubarb), or phytic acid (whole grains).
- May increase the toxicity of digoxin—monitor ECG and calcium.
- Maintain a time gap of 2–3 hours if used with bisphosphonates or sodium fluoride.

- Overdose may lead to hypercalcemia and vitamin D toxicity
- Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, mental confusion, cardiac arrhythmia, kidney damage
- Treatment: discontinue supplement, rehydrate, consider diuretics, bisphosphonates, calcitonin, or corticosteroids based on severity
